In this episode, we welcome back the Legendary Godfather of Juke Joint Swing, Wayne “The Train” Hancock to the show. Wayne last appeared on the show 5 years ago on EP9. In this interview, we discuss his new album “RIDE”, talk about the recording process, and his relationship with label Bloodshot Records. Wayne talks candidly about his battle against alcohol and his love for motorcycles. We also discuss the first time he heard Hank Williams Sr. and his time in The United States Marine Corp. Along with the interview, we play a couple of tracks off the new album and a couple of our favorite classic Wayne songs.

Episode 47 is a follow up show to the Muddy Roots Festival. Although I didn’t get to go everyone there still had fun without me and probably more so. On this show we have an interview with Jason the man behind The Muddy Roots Festival. Find out how the turnout was and what to expect next year. All the music I will play on this episode will be bands that I have in my repertoire of music that played at the show such as: Larry & His Flask, Dave Smith and His Country Rebels, Dash Rip Rock, Turley, The Delta Saints, Cutthroat Shamrock, Cletus Got Shot, Wayne Hancock, The Goddamn Gallows, Jason & The Punknecks, Pearls Mahone & The One Eyed Jacks, Soda, and a set by Billy Joe Shaver. Oh and I almost forgot I will someday marry the scantly clad hellbetty that was frolicking around the festival in a bikini.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0010 (08/20/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0010 (08/20/2008)

Episode 10 of The Hank in Chains Show explores the world of underground country music… the styles of country music damned by corporate Nashville. The artists played on this episode aren’t CMT trash. Instead, regardless of the style of country they write and perform, their music still has soul… the same kind of country soul that Hank, Lefty, Cash, Merle, and Waylon possessed. They are also the artists that would perform as part of a revived Louisiana Hayride… the Opry’s old rival in the 40s and 50s. While no one knows if this revival will ever happen, this week’s episode of The Hank in Chains Show displays how strong such a show would be.

Artists/Bands Featured include: Hank Williams III, Dale Watson, The Gin Palace Jesters, James Scott Bullard, Songs from the Road Band, Hot Club of Cow Town, The Straight 8’s, Justin Townes Earle, The Hackensaw Boys, Brian McGee and The Hollow Speed, Those Poor Bastards, Wayne Hancock, Robbie Fulks, Whitey Morgan and the 78s, and many more!

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0003 (07/02/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show (07/02/2008)
Episode #0003

Episode 3 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the man, the myth, the legend… Johnny Cash.  Even though he has become somewhat of a tall tale, the actual man and artist was even more complex than the legend.  In addition to playing his incredible music, Eric Morningstar and I will be taking in depth look at The Man in Black and discuss several aspects of his larger than life persona.  Expect lots more great music and commentary as well!

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Bob Dylan, Mudhoney, The White Stripes, Wayne Hancock, AC/DC, The Drive By Truckers, Split Lip Rayfield, Paul McCartney, and Dean Martin.
