On July 1st, The Hank in Chains Show will feature BR549 frontman Chuck Mead‘s first solo album Journeyman’s Wager. While there are hints of BR549 in spots, the Ray Kennedy produced album finds Mead exploring his many musical influences. A little CCR here, a little Beatles there, and even a little Springsteen. Yet, the album is a cohesive rockin’ country force, and a record of the year contender.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Lucky Tubb, Muddy Waters, The .357 String Band, Louis Jordan, Hank Williams III, Songs from the Road Band, Warren Zevon, The Rolling Stones, The Hackensaw Boys, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Cornpone.

After a three-week hiatus, The Hank in Chains Show returns! Episode 16 will feature the music of one of the most unique bands in underground music, Those Poor Bastards. Over the past few years, Lonesome Wyatt and The Minister have perfected the sound many refer to as “gothic country”. Whether or not you believe the label fits, their eerie, dark songs certainly would William Faulkner and Flannery O’Connor proud. Mr. Ecks and I will present and discuss songs they have released over the years, including tracks from their brand new album, Satan is Watching.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: AC/DC, Hank Williams III, Joe Grushecky, Steve Earle, Route 44, Brian McGee and The Hollow Speed, John Lennon, Black Eyed Vermillion, Lucky Tubb, Cornpone, Watermelon Slim and The Workers, and Aerosmith.

Episode 6 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of The Father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers. During only a six-year recording career, cut short tragically due to his death from tuberculosis. Rodgers still managed to write and record dozens of incredible songs in a style that combined folk, blues, jazz, and of course… the yodel. Eric Morningstar joins me as we discuss The Singing Brakeman’s music… songs that continue to inspire listeners eight decades after his recording career began.
