On Episode 42 “Homage for Hank” we pay respects to the man that paved the way for country music. On this episode Donnie keeps it clean and respectable, no vulgarness.  We discuss the Opry and Hank and play some great tunes by the legend himself. No bootleg artist set this week, Instead I just play requested music. A show full of bands that WERE NOT at Woodstock! hahahahaa! All the other radio stations and tv shows took care of all the bands that WERE THERE this last week. I’m taking care of the ones that were NOT!

On July 15th, The Hank in Chains Show will feature some of the greatest live performances of Bruce Springsteen from the past 30 years. Since taking the world by storm with his hall of fame album Born to Run in the mid 70s, Springsteen and his E-Street Band have become even more well-known for their always incredible live performances. The Boss started building his live music legacy in the 70s, and despite an E-Street hiatus during the late 80s/early 90s, he hasn’t lost a step!

On July 1st, The Hank in Chains Show will feature BR549 frontman Chuck Mead‘s first solo album Journeyman’s Wager. While there are hints of BR549 in spots, the Ray Kennedy produced album finds Mead exploring his many musical influences. A little CCR here, a little Beatles there, and even a little Springsteen. Yet, the album is a cohesive rockin’ country force, and a record of the year contender.

Episode 21 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the incredible band, The Drive-By Truckers. Even though they have been classified as a southern rock band, they aren’t exactly mindless stars-and-bars-waving rebs. Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, and the band may be proud of their roots, but they also aren’t afraid to point out the ugly sides of certain sects of Southern life as well… much like the great Southern gothic writers of decades past. Oh… and the sound of their classic triple-guitar attack never gets old!
