Yes, it’s true. Blake rides solo again without Norma Jean or Creepy Guy on episode 29. But have no fear yall… there is still a great interview/music with Chelsea McBee. On July 1st, The Hank in Chains Show will feature BR549 frontman Chuck Mead‘s first solo album Journeyman’s Wager. While there are hints of BR549 in spots, the Ray Kennedy produced album finds Mead exploring his many musical influences. A little CCR here, a little Beatles there, and even a little Springsteen. Yet, the album is a cohesive rockin’ country force, and a record of the year contender.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Lucky Tubb, Muddy Waters, The .357 String Band, Louis Jordan, Hank Williams III, Songs from the Road Band, Warren Zevon, The Rolling Stones, The Hackensaw Boys, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Cornpone.

Episode 10 of The Hank in Chains Show explores the world of underground country music… the styles of country music damned by corporate Nashville. The artists played on this episode aren’t CMT trash. Instead, regardless of the style of country they write and perform, their music still has soul… the same kind of country soul that Hank, Lefty, Cash, Merle, and Waylon possessed. They are also the artists that would perform as part of a revived Louisiana Hayride… the Opry’s old rival in the 40s and 50s. While no one knows if this revival will ever happen, this week’s episode of The Hank in Chains Show displays how strong such a show would be.

Artists/Bands Featured include: Hank Williams III, Dale Watson, The Gin Palace Jesters, James Scott Bullard, Songs from the Road Band, Hot Club of Cow Town, The Straight 8’s, Justin Townes Earle, The Hackensaw Boys, Brian McGee and The Hollow Speed, Those Poor Bastards, Wayne Hancock, Robbie Fulks, Whitey Morgan and the 78s, and many more!
