This week on The Hank in Chains Show, we will feature The Songs from the Road Band‘s new album, “As the Crow Flies”. While the term “underground supergroup” may be a musical oxymoron, in the case of the Songs from the Road Band, it makes perfect sense. Luckily for us, the hodgepodge of Asheville, North Carolina bluegrass all stars appears like it won’t stop recording or performing any time soon. “As the Crow Flies” is, in our opinion, the best bluegrass album of 2009. You won’t want to miss this week’s show!

Episode 21 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the incredible band, The Drive-By Truckers. Even though they have been classified as a southern rock band, they aren’t exactly mindless stars-and-bars-waving rebs. Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, and the band may be proud of their roots, but they also aren’t afraid to point out the ugly sides of certain sects of Southern life as well… much like the great Southern gothic writers of decades past. Oh… and the sound of their classic triple-guitar attack never gets old!

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Nirvana, Jerry Lee Lewis, Graham Lindsey, The Pine Box Boys, BR549, John Fogerty, Stone Temple Pilots, Double Eagle Standard, The Gin Palace Jesters, Buddy Holly, Horse Cave Trio, The Dry County Crooks, and Pearl Jam.

Episode 10 of The Hank in Chains Show explores the world of underground country music… the styles of country music damned by corporate Nashville. The artists played on this episode aren’t CMT trash. Instead, regardless of the style of country they write and perform, their music still has soul… the same kind of country soul that Hank, Lefty, Cash, Merle, and Waylon possessed. They are also the artists that would perform as part of a revived Louisiana Hayride… the Opry’s old rival in the 40s and 50s. While no one knows if this revival will ever happen, this week’s episode of The Hank in Chains Show displays how strong such a show would be.

Artists/Bands Featured include: Hank Williams III, Dale Watson, The Gin Palace Jesters, James Scott Bullard, Songs from the Road Band, Hot Club of Cow Town, The Straight 8’s, Justin Townes Earle, The Hackensaw Boys, Brian McGee and The Hollow Speed, Those Poor Bastards, Wayne Hancock, Robbie Fulks, Whitey Morgan and the 78s, and many more!

Welcome to the dirty stalls of It Burns When I Pee! This episode is a very special show because we have Dave Sisson (from The Gin Palace Jesters and Three Blue Teardrops ) right here in Get Your Hank On Studio’s. We were honored to have Dave with us and had a great time hangin out with him. Just wish Andy had brought his power cord. We play a couple songs from the Jesters and a song from Three Blue Teardrops. We also have a HUGE announcement regarding an amazing new partnership! Who said that we would never amount to anything!

In this episode we spin some tunes from The Steeldrivers, The Devil’s Own, and our good friend Carmen Lee. I read some feedback, talk about The Reinstate Hank campaign, and much much more. Of course what would an episode of It Burns When I Pee be without tons of inappropriate comedy?!
