Bootleg Asylum Radio Show (07/25/2008) Episode #0015

Bootleg Asylum Radio Show (07/25/2008)
Episode #0015

This week’s show includes a fantastic sounding 1974 pre-FM/soundboard recording from the band “RUSH“.  The recording was the original broadcast from the radio; so the quality is VERY good!  We are also featuring songs from their first album as well as songs that didn’t make it onto the album. Vintage RUSH!!!

Also this week, Jared Morningstar and OneMoreName review the new Black Crowes album entitled Warpaint.  Three songs from the album will be played this week.

Other artists featured: Alvin Lee, Leslie West, Rebel, Ingham County Regulars, the Guess Who, Omar and the Howlers, Ted Nugent, Astronaut Academy, 18 Wheeler, Roy Fox and the Country Blues, and Bottle Rockets.

And as always, thanks for your support for all our shows here at section86.com

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0006 (07/23/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0006 (07/23/2008)

Episode 6 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of The Father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers. During only a six-year recording career, cut short tragically due to his death from tuberculosis. Rodgers still managed to write and record dozens of incredible songs in a style that combined folk, blues, jazz, and of course… the yodel. Eric Morningstar joins me as we discuss The Singing Brakeman’s music… songs that continue to inspire listeners eight decades after his recording career began.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: The Band, Soundgarden, Buck Owens, Joey Allcorn, Paul McCartney, Jordan Zevon, Old Crow Medicine Show, Queen, and Cornpone.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0005 (07/16/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
(07/16/2008) Episode #0005

Episode 5 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the new album from Mudhoney. Released on Sub Pop Records, “The Lucky Ones” finds the band achieving the essential sound that has defined them for two decades. The album was recorded in a period of just over three days, and it’s as raw and intense as any album Mudhoney has released since Superfuzz Bigmuff in the late 1980s. New co-host Mr. Ecks and I are your guides through this fantastic album.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: The Beatles, Ray Wylie Hubbard, The Clash, Hank Williams, Clutch, Porter Wagoner, The Reverend Horton Heat, John Lee Hooker, The Gutter Twins, and the minds behind the madness that is the show’s new theme song, The Sons of Perdition.

It Burns When I Pee Episode #0017
Even God Needs The Devil

As the dust settles and construction on the new IBWIP nears completion, we bring you Episode 17 with a whole new format, new cast members, and an all round better program. We feature an interview with Jayke Orvis, from the .357 String Band, and play a couple of tracks from their new album Fire & Hail. In this episode we also unleash our new co-host Ryan “Creepy Guy” Hamm to you the listener.

Blake and Ryan also take a couple minutes to talk about the Tim McGraw concert fight video, Norma Jean watch’s Two Girls and One Cup for the first time, and we play IBWIP Jeopardy. We do another one of your famous IBWIP Giveaway’s. This time we are giving away an awesome Spfanzine.com T-shirt and a Hank Cash CD.

With summer finally here, we get to spend some time with Jared Morningstar as he provides us with an album review of Justin Townes Earl’s new album, The Good Life. Jared also has a new show of his own that we will let you know about.

But most importantly we have some tracks to play from great bands that are out there but corporate Nashville is keeping you in the dark about. We play songs from Adam Lee and The Dead Horse Sound Company, Justin Townes Earl, Plunkett, the .357 String Band, and Old Crow Medicine Show. We also have to give a shout out to Keith Neltner for doing the show art for Episode 17. He does amazing work and we were honored to have him help out the show.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0004 (07/09/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
(07/09/2008) Episode #0004

Episode 4 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of one of the 90s greatest rock bands, Alice in Chains. The band, led by lead vocalist Layne Staley and guitarist Jerry Cantrell, delivered some of the hardest (and softest), darkest, and most poetic songs in the history of rock and roll. Eric Morningstar joins me as we discuss the band and take listeners down the depressing, yet irresistible road that is their music.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Hank Williams III, The Who, North Mississippi Allstars, BR549, Justin Townes Earle, George Harrison, Fats Domino, and Black Sabbath.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0003 (07/02/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show (07/02/2008)
Episode #0003

Episode 3 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the man, the myth, the legend… Johnny Cash.  Even though he has become somewhat of a tall tale, the actual man and artist was even more complex than the legend.  In addition to playing his incredible music, Eric Morningstar and I will be taking in depth look at The Man in Black and discuss several aspects of his larger than life persona.  Expect lots more great music and commentary as well!

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Bob Dylan, Mudhoney, The White Stripes, Wayne Hancock, AC/DC, The Drive By Truckers, Split Lip Rayfield, Paul McCartney, and Dean Martin.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0002 (06/25/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show (06/25/2008)
Episode #0002

Episode 2 of The Hank in Chains Show includes not only great music and commentary, but, with the help of my co-host and psychology-genius brother Eric Morningstar, an in-depth look at the music of Warren Zevon. A unique singer-songwriter, Zevon wrote devilishly evil, funny, and yet intelligent lyrics that revealed a complex, compelling soul. A moralist in cynic’s clothing according to Springsteen, Zevon was never understood by the majority of mainstream music listeners. And yet, for those of you who aren’t afraid to look deeper into an artist’s words, appreciate dark humor, and simply love great rock and roll… this week’s show will be a must-listen event. Artists/Bands on this week’s show include: Nirvana, John Lennon, George Harrison, Dollar Store, Jason Isbell, Chuck Berry, Dwight Yoakam, Jakob Dylan, Those Poor Bastards, Jerry Cantrell, and Jimi Hendrix.
